Rochelle Garza of Brownsville became an attorney in 2013 and practiced with the law firm of Garza & Garza PLLC until 2019 when she became a staff attorney for American Civil Liberties Union (ALCU) – Texas. She has fought for reproductive rights for immigrant teens in detention, including the Garza v. Hargan case which now benefits teens in custody. She served as a board member of the Moody Clinic, a rehabilitation services provider for children with disabilities, and was chair of the Brownsville Ethics Advisory Commission. She is on the boards of Jane’s Due Process, the State Bar of Texas’ Laws Relating to Immigration and Nationality Committee, and the Cameron County Bar Association. She is a graduate of Brown University and the University of Houston Law Center.
